CHARDONNAY - CONNER LEE VINEYARD

Review of Washington Wines, April 2015

This Chardonnay possesses a brilliant gold color and lovely aromas of Asian pear-apple, white peach, grapefruit, peach blossoms, vanillin (from barrel fermentation) and wafts of white incense. On the palate, the white fruit compote flavors are lavish, yet precise, with notes of peach stones, pear skin, grape extracts and Radar Hill alluvial minerals. The wine then reveals sensations of poire William and péche liqueurs, laid on a creamy textured, oak laced back palate (from full malolactic and frequent battonage) that is followed by a lingering, persistently minerally finish. 19/20 points. —Rand Sealey

Possessing lots of red currants, earthy herbs and dried spices, the 2013 Arianses Vineyard Red Blend (34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc and the balance Petit Verdot) is beautiful on the palate, with silky tannin, good concentration and impressive balance. Coming from a great site on Red Mountain, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Heart of the Hill (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a classic wine from this appellation and offers lots of black fruits, crushed rocks and graphite aromas and flavors. Rich, medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and with building tannin, it's going to drink nicely for at least a decade.

Drink it over the coming 4-5 years. - Jeb Dunnuck, June 2017

Another high-quality wine is the 2013 Syrah Stone Tree Vineyard. Made from 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier, it has lots of scorched earth, caramelized red fruits and charred meat notes in a rich, medium to full-bodied, nicely textured style. The oak is still showing, but I love the fruit and texture here, and it handles its 15.1% alcohol beautifully.
