We crafted this Syrah blend around the magnificent wine from Stone Tree Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope just east of Mattawa, owned and tended by Tedd Wildman. The dark purple color hints at the deep rich fruit to follow. We added depth to the blend with Syrah from Arianses Vineyard and Mourvedre from Heart of the Hill Vineyard on Red Mtn. These diverse locations add their own character to the blend, but it's Syrah with dark fruit, spices, and savory edges that linger on the palate.
Bottled on 7/26/14; 162 cases were produced; Alcohol: 14.44%; pH 3.73, TA 6.1 g/L.
77% Syrah (46% Stone Tree Vineyard, 31% Arianses Vineyard)
15% Mourvedre (Heart of the Hill Vineyard)
8% Grenache (Stone Tree Vineyard)
Barrels: This wine was aged for 22 months in Export style barrels of 17% new American oak from A&K, and the balance seasoned French oak from Tonnellerie Vernou, and Doreau. The Grenache was raised in stainless and blended at bottling.
