Our offer for the month of November is one each of these three fine aged Rhône reds in honor of the 2019 harvest.

Here's what they are...

2007 :Nota Bene Syrah - Columbia Valley

Two big Syrahs come together to form the major components of this wine. They are followed by generous helpings of Mourvedre and Grenache that add complexity and depth from both ends of the flavor spectrum. The Mourvedre contributes depth of color, tannin, and white pepper, while the Grenache is light red and fruity. Together they complement this Southern Rhône blend and round out the finish. This wine has ample structure that will make it enjoyable for many years to come.

  • Alcohol 15.0%, pH 3.64, TA 6.75 g/L
  • Bottled on 6/27/09
  • 270 cases

84% Syrah (51% Stillwater Creek Vineyard, 22% Stone Tree Vineyard)
8% Mourvedre (Kiona Heart of the Hill Vineyard)
8% Grenache (Stone Tree Vineyard)

Barrels: This wine was aged for 21 months in 18% new Tonnellerie Vernou French oak with the balance in seasoned French and American oak from Saury, Alain Fouquet, Keystone and Vicard.

Wine Enthusiast Magazine, May 2011
Much more accessible than the winery's 2006 Syrah, this mixes muscle and meat, highlights from smaller component parts (Mourvedre and Grenache) and overall clever blending. While bringing in the tart red fruit, the composted leaves, the moist loam and light funk of Washington Syrah, it also shows some pretty baking spices and a tight, precise finish. -- P.G. Review of Washington Wines, December 2011
This is an exceptional Syrah for the price. Blended with 13% Mourvedre and 8% Grenache, it offers a deep ruby color and aromas of raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, lavender, sage and pepper. The red/blue flavors are well saturated, underlain with notes of licorice, chocolate, mocha and stony minerals and earth (Stone Tree and Stillwater Creek). The flavors thicken on the back, with sensations of macerated berries, graphite, dried orange peel and a squeeze of blueberry juice on a spiced (nutmeg, clove) ripe tannin finish. 18.5/20 points. 2009 :Nota Bene Syrah - Columbia Valley

We built this Syrah blend around the magnificent wine from Stillwater Creek Vineyard in the Frenchman Hills just north of Royal City. The dark purple color hints at the deep rich fruit to follow. We rounded out the depth with wine from Les Vignes de Marcoux in Wapato and Stone Tree Vineyard in Mattawa.  A good helping of Mourvèdre also from Stillwater Creek completes the Southern Rhône varietals.  A splash of our best Merlot from Ciel du Cheval Vineyard accents the mid-palate to give this wine a pleasing finish.

  • Bottled on 7/16/11
  • 125 cases were produced
  • Alcohol 16.22%, pH 3.76, TA 6.45 g/L

87% Syrah (67% Stillwater Creek Vineyard, 10% Les Vignes de Marcoux, 10% Stone Tree Vineyard)
10% Mourvèdre (Stillwater Creek Vineyard)
3% Merlot  (Ciel du Cheval Vineyard)

Barrels:  This wine was aged for 22 months in 25% new Saury American oak and the balance seasoned Saury, Demptos, and Tonnellerie Vernou.

A lovely mix of floral cherry, red plum and spice flavors push easily through a veil of crisp tannins in this juicy, flair-filled Syrah. 125 cases made. HS — Harvey Steiman
