All of our wines are crafted to be aged for many years, the number of which we will only know with time. Please stock up so you can regularly sample the wines and not miss any intermediate combinations of subtle aromas that may be short lived or transitions to more complex flavor components. We like to say that we appreciate all phases of wine flavor profiles, but that we only release the wine when the symphony is ready to play!

We are extremely happy to be able to share the music that was preformed by our friends in the local trio Phlonomenon at our Release Party in March of 2007. This 2 disk live recording is 90 minutes of improvisational jazz entitled :Nota Bene Sessions 3-24-07.

It was recorded live onsite at the winery during our Release Party celebration for our 2004 vintage wines. We enjoyed the music so much that day that we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share it with our customers. We partnered with Phlonomenon musicians, John Cheney on keyboards, Mohan Nugent on sax, and percussionist Scott Wurtz to bring you this wonderful CD. The group was really on that day as I’m sure you’ll agree. It was one of those musical moments you wish you could capture to enjoy again. Lucky for all of us, John Cheney had his Korg D-1600 digital recorder in place. He laid down two tracks of beautiful strains that lasted for hours.

The band collaborated and edited this down to 90 minutes of fine music and 15 distinct pieces with appropriately wine related titles. You’ve got to Wiki al Kindi, a renaissance man 500 years before the Renaissance with a deep interest in wine. Of course we love the title track :Nota Bene that includes vocals by Mohan Nugent.

These guys are very clever and it shows in the flow of harmonies that range from traditional jazz to eastern influenced improvisation. Their style is diverse and worldly, always flowing where you least expect them to go giving the sense of calm that comes with thematic resolution.

When you sit down to enjoy a nice bottle of :Nota Bene wine, it’s really best to think about the right music to set the tone for your wine tasting adventure. Whether it’s the middle of the week, or a special holiday, or your significant other’s birthday, you’ll enjoy these three gentlemen from Seattle who played their hearts out for us at the :Nota Bene Session 3-24-2007.

John Cheney – Kurzweil PC 88, Yamaha Motif ES rack, Yamaha Motif ES 6 keyboard
Mohan Nugent – kalimba, vocals, soprano and alto saxophone, flute, bamboo flutes
Scott Wurtz – tabla, udu, djembe, conga, modified trap set

This CD was mastered by Russ Schissler of Odyssey Technologies, Boulder, Colorado.
